Mai Klooster

Mai Klooster is a soprano active in the Metro Detroit area. She is a staff singer at Christ Church Cranbrook, where she will be featured as the Soprano II soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, and has appeared with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the UMS Choral Union. Before moving to Michigan, she performed as a singer and soloist with Illumine Vocal Arts Ensemble, appeared with the Arcadia Players in Handel’s Messiah, and sang in Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the UMass Amherst Chamber Choir. She also performed the role of Zelatrice in Smith College’s semi-staged production of Puccini’s Suor Angelica.

Mai graduated magna cum laude from Smith College in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Music with a Concentration in Vocal Performance, receiving the Judith Raskin Memorial Prize for the outstanding senior voice student and the Margaret Collins Stoop Adesso Prize for the best new choral work composed by a Smith student. During her undergraduate studies, Mai served as principal second violinist in the Smith College Orchestra and as a section leader and frequent soloist in the Smith College Glee Club and Chamber Singers.

Mai is delighted to sing with Audivi, an excitement shared by her 18-year-old cockatiel, who will be enthusiastically whistling along to her practice sessions.
